I'm sure everyone remember the 'Council Diary'. It's funny how this blog reminds me of that invention from more than a decade ago. It's not so funny though, to think of the circumstance under which this "e-council diary" is resurrected.
More than a decade! Pardon my cliche if i say 'feels like yesterday'... but it does.
Last night, i was just telling Hanqing about what i remember of WK when we were in JC/NUS. As I was recalling, an image of this uncle-like figure kept popping up in my mind. I remember we used to laugh at his too-far-to-the-side hair parting, his 'cement-like' hair gel, how thrifty he was (extremely), how he decided to have bread for lunch everyday cos he wanted to buy a gift for someone (who that is is besides the point).
I remember how much he was a source of jokes and laughter for us, even as we advanced from the carrom table in the council room to the mahjong table in my bedroom. Do you guys remember the way he played mahjong? He's hilarious! I think sometimes we laughed until we each have a tummyache.
I told Hanqing how I really missed the WK from those days, cos it's evident that we all had drifted so far apart in recent years. Yet it's at least a comfort to know that while our lives moved in various directions, the memories registered in our minds remain unchanged (more or less).
I think i still have one of the council diaries at home, which i had decided never to open it up again after cringing so badly the last time i read it. So it's wonderful that QZ started this new diary, cos he's not alone in being guilty of a busy schedule.
What's 'create a post'? It took me a while just to find out how to open an account....i've actually never read a blog before, let alone 'create a post'! (what's that?)
